Une Petite Hiroba

"Une Petite" = A small
"Hiroba (広場)" = Town square
"Une Petite Hiroba" = A small town square
If the world were a village of 100 people, how many would be X and how many would be Y? How many would be laughing, and how many would have dreams?
Wouldn’t you want to see a world as a village of 100 people, where everybody is equal, has opportunities and is living a life?
All very different, but all very fun lives.
"Une Petite Hiroba"
Inspired by If the world were a village of 100 people (Kayoko Ikeda & Magazine House, 2006), our theatre show is a devised multilingual sitcom exploring cultural differences within food, festivities, music, folklore and more, in a multilingual space where communication takes place in all sorts of methods (languages).

From workshop to devising
Following a successful term of one-off conclusive workshops all with different themes, we are taking the ideas and discussions generated from the workshops to devise a full performance for the SU Festival in May 2023.
Scroll through our Instagram page to see the workshop highlights and pre/post/alternative workshop activities that can also be done elsewhere!

Debut Performance

Une Petite Hiroba is a multilingual theatre show, capturing the joy, anger, sadness and love of life in more than 10 languages and cultures. Set in a little village with a little village square, every villager looks, sounds, and acts differently. But recently villagers are uniting, gathering in the square to put decorations, music and colours in the Petite Hiroba for a very special event: The upcoming birth of a new life.
It’s a celebration of cultural diversity through the joy of theatre making in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Ukrainian, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese, Norwegian, Italian and Maltese.
